Focused on both caregivers and individuals with disabilities, these practical, skills-based programs provide tools and knowledge to help families confidently navigate daily life - giving every family a real chance to thrive.

4th Annual Summer Tee Off

Join us for a festival-style celebration as we “Tee Off Into Summer” at our 4th Annual Tee Off with First Tee Greater Richmond! This year’s event gives participants and families the opportunity to come and go throughout the event while rotating through a variety of engaging golf stations.
A highlight of the event will be a lively game of golf baseball played at a set time–don’t miss it! In addition to golf activities, guests can enjoy food trucks, accessible festival-style games, a DJ, face painting, and more. This year’s experience will fully embrace a summer festival atmosphere for all ages and abilities.
We can’t wait to kick off summer together on the course!

Details
LEAP stands for Leadership for Empowerment and Abuse Prevention and provides training on healthy relationships and information about preventing abuse for adults with intellectual disabilities. LEAP was developed by a multidisciplinary team that included people with disabilities and their families, along with representatives from domestic violence, child advocacy, social services, health, LGBTQ+ and disability advocacy agencies. Training is taught by a person with a disability and a co-trainer.
LEAP trainers teach participants about:

What it means to trust someone and who should be trusted

Healthy, unhealthy, and confusing relationships

Asking permission before touching

Different ways to say “no”

Identifying feelings and physical signs associated with being uncomfortable

Details
Restaurant Ready is a new Jacob's Chance culinary arts program, developed by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) and designed to help individuals develop the essential life and workplace skills needed to launch successful careers in the hospitality industry.
This initiative blends practical training from our Culinary Arts: Advanced Recipes & Practical Skills program with six industry-defined core competencies. Restaurant Ready empowers participants to grow professionally and work toward long-term independence.
This pilot program is application based and registration is open to those who have been selected for the program.
