Programs for Teens and Young Adults

We believe everyone deserves the chance to feel included in a social setting. In our social groups, individuals of all abilities are invited to join and experience a place where everyone is not only welcomed, but celebrated.

Teen Scene

The Teen Scene provides inclusive monthly social events for teens ages 13 through high school. The gatherings are planned by a group of peers that belong to the United High School Board of Directors: the "Teen Board". Monthly gatherings are held at various locations around the metro Richmond area. Participation costs are minimal and financial assistance is always available.

February Teen Scene | Bingo
At capacity 

Join your teen scene friends for an afternoon of bingo, snacks, and friendship!

Date: Saturday, February 24th
Time: 3-4:30pm
Location: Deep Run Rec Center

Cost: $5 (financial assistance always available)

Ages: 13 through high school

The Hangout

The Hangout is a young adult social group that encourages relationship building, independence, and socialization between high school graduates up to age 40 with intellectual, developmental, and/or physical disabilities. Monthly gatherings are held at various locations around the metro Richmond area. Participation costs are minimal, and financial assistance is always available.


March Hangout | VCU Women's Basketball Game
Registration closes 2/28, or when at capacity

Join your young adult friends for a VCU Women's Basketball game! VCU will host its first Support[HER] game on Saturday, March 2 at 1 p.m. at the Stuart C. Siegel Center against George Mason. As part of the nationwide movement in supporting women's athletics, the Support[HER] game aims to break VCU Women's Basketball attendance record for a non-education day game.


We will meet in front of the Siegel Center at 12pm.


*Please note that everyone attending MUST have a ticket. Parents/Caregivers if you plan on staying for the game, please register yourself separately on the VOLUNTEER registration form. Food/drinks will be available onsite for purchase.

Ages: High school graduates through age 40

3G - Guys, Gals,
and Games

3G is a weekly social group focused on providing opportunities for socializing, relationship building, and disability acceptance. We come together each week to play card games, board games, build Legos, draw, color, or just hang out! Led by Andrew and with volunteers of a variety of ages helping out, friends of all abilities are welcome to come each week to hang out and make new friends!


3G - Guys, Gals, and Games

We have two sections of 3G, one for teens 13 through high school, and one for young adults out of high school through age 40!

Dates: Wednesdays, March 13th - May 1st (8 weeks)
Time: 5-6pm
Location: Belmont Rec Center

(1600 Hilliard Rd, Richmond, VA 23228)

We will have 2 rooms, and participants can hang out in either the Hermitage game room, or the Sunroom. We will show you where to go on the first day!

Cost: $80 for 8 weeks

The teen group is geared towards ages 13 through high

school. The young adult group is geared towards high school

graduates through age 40. While we encourage the split between those in high school and those who have graduated, we understand that a different group may be a better fit. We encourage you to select the one that would be the best for you!
